This PAL Cadets Memorial Is Created In Loving Memory Of
Derrick Harvey

Derrick Harvey

Derrick marched in the PAL Cadets and Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps; he played a Contrabass Horn.

Found this quote by Derrick, in a Philadelphia Daily News article titled "Mummers' Strut's A Winner in Fla.", dated Monday, August, 19 1974. "I prayed a lot" said horn player Derrick Harvey, 15, of North Philadelphia. The quote was pertaining to winning the 1974 American Legion Jr. Drum Corps National Championship. He will always be a champion to those who marched with him.

Derrick was 45 years old at the time of his death, a Lieutenant and fourteen year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire Department. He succumbed to injuries suffered while fighting a fire at 9th St. and Lindley Avenue.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and the entire drum corps and fire fighting families.

You will be missed Derrick.
